Benefits of Hardwood
- The rich natural beauty of hardwood creates a good first impression.
- Hardwood is naturally warm due to its own unique insulation qualities.
- The wood is carefully selected and monitored for quality control throughout the manufacturing process.
- All windows are long lasting with a low maintenance factor due to modern, quality finishes.
- High Quality locking systems are installed on all windows, ensuring maximum insulation and protection.
- All windows have double glazed sealed units.
- All windows are draught proofed and weather proofed.
- Any shape or design is possible through hardwood's natural flexibility and robustness.
Fashioned by skilled craftsmen
Manufactured by skilled craftsmen, all our windows are made to measure for a perfect fit. All the hardwood is carefully selected and close attention is paid to quality control throughout the manufacturing process. Each window is finished to the highest standard, first being dipped in an anti-fungal preservative, then sprayed with two micro porous top coats to enhance the natural beauty of the grain, and to give a long lasting, low maintenance finish.

Timber and the environment

How can the use of timber benefit the environment?
Timber is natural, organic and renewable, and has numerous environment advantages over competing materials. Converting timber into a usable building material takes far less energy, and therefore generates far less carbon dioxide than virtually any other alternative including aluminium, steel, concrete and PVCu. Once installed, wood is an extremely effective insulating material with a very high energy efficiency. Indeed, timber framed houses are widely recognised as being top performers in energy efficiency. |
Where does the hardwood come from?
We mainly use the hardwoods sapele and meranti, which are obtained from Africa and Indonesia where sustainable forest management has long been the concept of their National Forest policies. These regions are striking a balance between sustainable development and sustainable forest management. The production forest is logged on a rotational cycle, under a sustained yield system. Each rotational round of harvesting gives a sufficient time for the area to recover and regenerate before a next round of harvesting takes place.
What are we doing to support environmental issues?
The whole issue of forest management is a detailed and complex one, but we are currently working closely with our timber suppliers who provide details of their progress under the terms of their Company Environment Policy. The suppliers also have to confirm to us that all timber has been derived from legitimate sources, and that it has been managed according to the laws and regulations governing forest management in the producer country.
